Cafe News (Italian), Georgetown

On M Street. Has anyone been?
The name is a bit misleading because it's a full blown restaurant, not a cafe. We stopped in for a drink and to watch the parade on inauguration night. Loved the decor (almost felt Turkish with colorful and ornate tile) and the menu was extensive and sounded delicious. Curious to know if it's on any Hounds' radar.
Unfortunately we had wasted our one massive meal of the day on the first place we could get to after being pushed out of town with the crowds, which was a Mexican joint on the right side of M street just as you enter Georgetown. Whatever it was, don't bother.
I think you mean News Cafe on M Street. Have been there many times for lunch. They run a special of $9.95 for salad and pasta, which is a good deal. The food is good, but definitely not upscale. It is traditional Italian at affordable prices (which is rare in Georgetown). I have only been once for dinner and it was good, but again nothing exraordinary. If you work in the area and want an affordable, quick and decent lunch this is definitely an alternative.
