Tet Festival - Houndworthy?

  • 7

Is there much at the Tet festival worth eating? Any special holiday treats? A friend said he went last year and it wasn't much different from your average street fair. Was thinking of going this Sunday.

  1. Which Tet festival are you interested in? The one in SF's Tenderloin (Little Saigon) was last Sunday and the big one in San Jose was last Saturday.

Nevermind. Missed the boat again... Maybe next year.

This year was my first time for SF's. I got there too late and most of the food was gone. Here's my post on the one cream puff I bought, http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/589247 . In-Joy is a brick and mortar bakery on McAllister, so you could check it out some time. Can't believe no one has anything to add to my post about it.

    2. Santa Rosa's Tet Festival is tomorrow, Feb. 14, at the Veterans' Building (farm market off 12) from noon to 6 PM.

Good to see you at today's Test Festival in Santa Rosa! This was a multi-cultural production, combining the efforts of the Vietnamese, Mexican, Lao, Cambodian, and Chinese communities. Most interesting dish was the sweet beef liver jerky topping on the green papaya salad. Here's a slideshow of the day.

And I did get very close to the lion dancers.

Melanie, fabulous slide show - the event was a feast for the eyes as well as the tongue/belly.

My favorite dish was the smokey flavored pork vermicelli. Did you go back to ask whether it's available at a restaurant? I'd like to enjoy them again before next next new year. :)

I did ask, and the food is not prepped by restaurants. I hope the same cook does the grilling next time!

I had put in minimum bids on several of the restaurant gift certificates in the silent auction. I got a $20 certificate for China Chef for $5. The certificate doesn't have the address of the restaurant, maybe this is it?
