<content>I'm hoping to alleviate a bit of cabin-fever with a newborn by lunching out. Any suggestions or ideas about restaurants in Santa Monica/W. LA that would be amenable to breast-feeding in public would be much appreciated.

Perhaps some of you have experience with this. Basically, the ideal place would have comfortable booths and a low-key clientele who would not have their dining experience compromised. And, of course, good food is a must!

Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

<content>Someone may have a good recommendation for you. Here are a couple other ideas:

Contact your local chapter of the La Leche League and see if they keep a list, or have any thoughts. They also have a Yahoo! group where you might post your query.

Schedule your lunch so its time coincides with your baby's nap instead of his/her lunch.

Bon Chance!

<content>You can breastfeed anywhere you feel comfortable doing so. As long as you are discreet, no one else will be uncomfortable or inconvenienced.

I suggest that you visit restaurants at off-peak hours so that tables aren't as busy.

CA Civil Code 43.3.

"Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a mother may breastfeed her child in any location, public or private, except the private home or residence of another, where the mother and the child are otherwise authorized to be present."</content>
