Something new at 200 Park / Met Life?

Bar_Y04 Jan 20, 2009 10:06 AM

Walked by 200 Park Avenue on Vanderbilt today (b/w 44th and 43rd) and saw something that looked new. No signs on the outside, full bar and racks of wine, but orange chairs looking they're from a 70s cafeteria.

Anyone know what's opening there?

I believe that it's going to be a re-incarnation or a re-invention of the old Spanish restaurant, La Fonda del Sol.

There's also a mention in today NY Times. The tapas bar opened for dionner on 1/19 and the main room (as well as the tapas bar) will be open for lunch on 1/26.

One thing will be missing from the original, a small stage where on weekends a comedy group put on skits. Among the "unknown" actors who performed were John Belushi and Gilda Ratner.
