Masa in Woburn- I liked it!

Tried the new Masa in Woburn over the weekend (located by the Whole Foods Market). I have not been to the Masa in the South End for several years, so I cannot compare the two. Had reservations for 7:30 on Saturday, and was happy that we had made them, because the place was packed and I overheard people at the bar talking about a 30-45 minute wait.

I ordered a glass of malbec, the tuna tartar appetizer, and the BBQduck and gouda quesadilla as my entre (it is technically on the appetizer list, but I wasn't that hungry). The tuna tartar reminded me of a similar dish at Tangierino- tuna on the bottom and avocado on top. It was a little spicy and just superb. The duck and gouda quesadilla was not quite as good- the BBQ tended to overpower the gouda, but still pretty good. Overall, I was very pleased with my meal and did not leave hungry.

Our bill for 2 people and 4 glasses of wine (my SO prefers a tempranillo, which they also carried by the glass) was just under $100 (not including tip). We thought it was a great value for the quality.

We asked about tapas, and they do offer them, but only at the bar. The waitress brought us the bar menu, and if we had asked, I think they would have let us order even though we were at a table. We will try out the bar menu during the week sometime to avoid the crowds.
