Food from Pittsburgh

Hey all! We are having a SuperBowl party! I wanted to order some sort of food from Pittsburgh. Does anyone have any suggestions of a special food from there! Thanks!

  1. Pierogies!

She was featured on Bobby Flay and we like this style the best. Food Network has her recipe online as well. I know you can get them at our local Whole Foods...probably not nationally though.

    1. Pierogies are quite easy to make if you are feeling creative, but frozen pierogies also suffice.
Primantis is a Pittsburgh institution, so you could serve grilled sandwiches with slaw and french fries on them.

Primanti's sandwiches are not grilled. The meat on them is grilled, but the sandwiches are on amazing thick-sliced Italian bread. The slaw should not be creamy and the fries should be fresh cut and not very crispy. There should be sliced tomato, also. A fried egg is optional. Look here for a photo (at the top of the page): http://www.primantibros.com/

I went to U-Pitt, so I should have made it clearer that only the meat is grilled.

CMU for me. I could go for an O's dog and fries right now!

      2. Clark Bars
        Klondike Bars
        Devonshire Sandwich
        Heinz Ketchup
        Iron City Beer
        Isaly's Chipped Ham

            Hi,
            What is a Devonshire Sandwich?

There's a recipe for it on this thread:

It's like a "hot brown" from Ohio, if you're familiar with those.

Hot Brown's are native to Louisville Ky.

          2. Order spaghetti sauce from Tambellini's!
