Ontario airport area

I'm going to be staying near the Ontario airport. Is there any place that you can recommend? At this point, I don't have a car but I can rent one if there isn't good chow available nearby. TIA!

  1. If you like steaks, Porter's (at the Ontario Doubletree Hotel) is actually pretty good. They serve Prime beef, and for a bit less than places farther west.

Thanks for the recommendation, JF. I'll see if I can figure out where the Doubletree is. I'm staying at the Hilton so maybe it is in the same area.

    2. Best food in that area (legit by SGV standards, and actually better than most) is the spicy seafood hand-made noodles (chao ma mien) at China Point. It's about 1-2 miles north on Archibald. An easy cab ride.

      1. I know its not the most authentic chinese food, but Panda Inn is pretty good and in that area. Great for lunch or dinner, the food is great quality, like chinese food for Americans.

        1. Isn't Panda Inn owned by the same people who own the Panda Express chain?
Ontario really isn't known for it's great food...really the entire area isn't know for it's great food, but there are some standouts in the surrounding area.
There's a great breakfast place in Rancho Cucamonga, which is roughly 10 mins north of where you're staying. Kick Back Jack/BC Cafe. Family-owned and operated...and blueberry pancakes so good...they taste like a blueberry muffin that's been smashed flat. The Super Home fries are awesome, too! Cut red potatoes that are cooked in a skillet and covered with cheese, green onion, sour cream, bacon, and avocado. They have a pretty mean corned beef hash, if you're interested. A little salty, but cooked to perfection so that you have the right amount to crunchy, crispy crust to balance the smooth mash of corned beef and potatoes.
If you're not from California, you should try In-N-Out...the best burgers...period. There are a couple by the airport. Visit the website for locations.
If you're a sushi fanatic, Ken's Restaurant in Rancho Cucamonga gets great reviews on this board. I've never been to Ken's, but I can recommend Kazama in Claremont and Sho Sushi in Upland. Kazama has a chef with over 30 years experience, and makes a great omakase. Sho Sushi is a really good AYCE place.
Old World Deli in Upland has some awesome broasted chicken...it's way flavorful and crispy than your run-of-the-mill fried chicken and comes with a broasted potato and a side order from their deli counter.
Handel's ice cream is the world's best ice cream. Every flavor accurately mimics what it's supposed to taste like. The cotton candy melts in your mouth. Other favorite flavors: strawberry cheesecake, blueberry cobbler, caramel apple, candy apple, banana cream pie, cinammon sticky bun, peppermint stick, rocky road...I think could go on and on.

          1. Whenever I am flying in or out of ONT, I make a stop at my favorite place for Snata Maria-style BBQ - Buckboard BBQ & Grill in Upmand maybe 5 miles from the airport. Noy much as far as atmosphere in a strip mall, but the tri-tip is outstanding.

            1. What kind of food are you looking for? I know of a new Cuban place off of Archibald/8th that is doing alot of advertising, but I haven't personally been there. It's called Flamingo Palms. Taxi-able to get there from Ontario Airport...

You can probably shuttle to Ontario Mills, there are the run of the mill chain restaurants there. Victorial Gardens has a Cheesecake Factory, Fleming's, Corner Bakery- and a great crepe place.

              1. too bad Homestyle Cafe is RIP. i used to LOVE going there for breakfast whenever i was in town...

                1. Has anything new appeared near Ontario airport?
Especially for dinner after a long flight in for time lagged flyers?

                  1. in ontario tonoight...anything at all that is local and good? Mexcican, pub etc...
