Please fix photo uploads!

  • 9

I've been pointing this out for weeks and nobody seems to want to address it. It really detracts from the site.

Here is another post of mine, where upon posting with an uploaded photo, the post remains broken.

If this can't be fixed, I'll find another site to contribute to. This is getting very frustrating because nobody comments on my photos because the thread is unviewable, and once its fixed, everyone who's a reguarl has already tried and failed and never revisits the thread.

Whenever I post with an attached photo, the result is an error page saying "something was wrong with this post", and then a few hours later its fixed. In those few hours, probably hundreds of people try to read my post, and get that error, and then once its fixed, my post is forgotten about.. Really frustrating.

Just to let you know, I have viewed several of your posts within less than half an hour of your posting, and have had no problems seeing the post.

            Yes.
I doubt that it is the photo upload that is causing the error page. That error seems to happen at random on different pages, occasionally on one specific page, but it happens whether there is a pic attached or not.
The actual number of responses you get to any post is going vary by how many people have input for you. Sometimes it will be a lot, sometimes only one or two.
There are a lot of posts I read but don't respond to because I don't know enough about the subject to contribute. I'm simply reading to learn something. Many other chowhounds are the same way.

    2. Testing within this thread.

      1. I've opened a problem ticket for Engineering to take a look at this.

If you do see more threads get broken, please report them here. If you see them fix themselves, report that, too. As a workaround to the problem of them falling off the front page while they're broken, you could post an additional message to them when they come back, which would bump them back to the front page for the users who use the last update sort (most of the regular posters do). We don't normally encourage, or even necessarily allow, bumping, but we'd definitely make an exception in cases like this.

How would you know to make an exception, when normally it is not allowed? Would the report the problem (on the thread), and then bump it?

I'm assuming they'd have reported the thread here or via email as broken, so we'd know it had been.
