Are there any of these kinds of places in Los Angeles? Like the ones seen on the food channel?

Guy did shows from Patrick's Roadhouse, Gaffey Street Diner, Baby Blue's BBQ, Mad Greek (Baker)

I really enjoy the burgers and fries at Gaffey Stree, but I hear the must orders are the biscuits and gravy and a special french toast. Just make sure if you visit for breakfast you go early because the kitchen runs out of things rather quickly.

You know the other Mad Greek is in Stanton, right? It's not quite like the one in Baker (but after all when you're stuck in Sunday afternoon traffic back from Vegas, or Friday afternoon traffic TO Vegas because you were dumb enough to drive, the Mad Greek seems like a true oasis) but it isn't bad at all.

Also Jay Bee's BBQ in Gardena. I'd heard of Jay Bee's before and went on Guy's rec, I was disappointed in the long line and the owner's son taking a break telling people about how they didn't need the promo, they had enough business.

I didn't like the guy's attitude and to top it off he took this girl's ticket behind me and brought her order right out while I waited another 10 minutes. I don't understand-since the BBQ is already cooked, how come it takes so long to put your order together? Had some ribs and a pulled pork sandwich and it was decent, but not enough to go back and wait in line for.

Right--the bullet proof order window is a nice touch.

Some of the places Guy goes to make Tito's look like Pierre Gagnaire! Plus it's super popular and greasy...

I agree 100%. Yes it is a dive. The tacos are really bad and tasteless. The cheese they put on top is horrible.

If you're ever in the Newport Beach area, you should check out Mutt Lynch's. This place should be on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. The food is good and the atmosphere is awesome.

My girlfriends and I are big fans of Dale's in Long Beach- 4339 E. Carson. Great feel, great waitresses (young but in the diner friendly frame of mind).
