Quiet drinks before dinner at Comme Ca?

My husband and I have a late reservation at Comme Ca tonight and would like to go somewhere for a drink beforehand. Doesn't need to be within walking distance, but in the general vicinity (West Hollywood) would be nice--as would comfortable seating and nice ambiance. Any suggestions? I would love to to Lucques bar, but past experience tells me that its bar will be too packed on a Friday night.

The title of your post made me laugh. I thought you were asking about the possibility of having quiet drinks at Comme Ca. There is nothing quiet about dining at Comme Ca!

I'm sorry I can't help with your question, but I had to chime in about the noise level. Enjoy your meal, though, and be sure to order the Brioche Pudding for dessert. It still ranks at the best dessert I've ever had.

I don't think there really is anything that quiet walking distance, but maybe you could check out the lounge at The Hall (on Holloway near Santa Monica Blvd.) which is a few minutes away. I was there last night for an early drink and it was very comfortable (lots of sofas/private areas) and perfect for conversation; although it may be a little busier on a Friday night.

The Foundry on Melrose. Lovely bar.

The Andaz Hotel on Sunset just re-opened. It's the old Riot House Hyatt that they renovated. I went for a nice dinner during the soft-opening and they also have a small bar area. It's beautifully decorated in modern tones and not too loud.

You could try to new SLS Hotel just down La Cienega. They have pricey, but interesting cocktails like salt air margs and mojitos with spun sugar.

Thanks for all the recommendations. We ended up going to SLS and it was quite an experience. Service was TERRIBLE, the drinks were fine, but the scene was hilarious. Great people-watching-- I half expected to see some of the real housewives of orange county--everyone there looked like them. Jose Andres was there--I saw him walking around several times.

That's too bad about the service. The two times I went the service was good. Yes, it is quite entertaining people watching. Did you have any appetizers? The hams, cured meats and sausages are great with the Catalan tomato bread.
