Berkeley: Makris Coffee Shop - spam and grits with kimchee?
Does anyone know if breakfast is served all day at Makris.
There are a few posts about it over the years ... it even made the Chowhound guide for the hash browns. This posts seems to sum it up, I think ...

"Good basic American breakfast fare served by a friendly Korean couple at rock-bottom prices. Very good breakfast sandwiches, and the freshest hash browns in town (the shredded potato kind) in a cozy laid-back atmosphere (brown vinyl stool chairs along orange formica counter, everything says 1971 except the calendar.) Probably the best breakfast, dollar for dollar, in the east bay: the egg, onion, mushroom and tomato breakfast sandwich with a big side of golden crisp hash brown"
My understanding is they make their own kimchee and while it is not on the breakfast menu, ask and it will be added to your hash browns, grits, etc.
Has anyone tried the Korean stuff here such as bulgogi, chicken, ramen, bulgogi burger.

I'd agree that the folks are nice and the breakfast is good but nothing special. It opens very early (before 7?) but closes mid-afternoon (3-ish?)
