Barcelona inexpensive?

hello,
i will be in barcelona in april or 5 days an looking for some inexpensive but good restaurants.
me and 2 freinds of mine like to go at least two times in nice restaurants where you can get decent food for about 35€ per person.
we stay near the ramblas and near the harbour but would also walk or drive to a restaurant if it isnt that far away.

we are also searching for some nice tapas bars and oter stuff where you can get good bite for lunch and dont have to pay much.

does anybody know also where you can get a nice breakfast?

thanks a lot!
philipp

It's been a few years since we found ourselves in Barcelona, but we've always enjoyed the bustle and market-place ambiance at Bar Pinnochio in the Boqueria Market. The calamari plantxa and whatever fresh seafood they had on the menu were pretty good, and went well with their house cava.

restaurants are forced by law to offer a set price menu for lunch. Not for dinner though. Is this what you mean? what do you mean by 'daily menu'?

'inexpensive' is a bit subjective, but i would suggest El Pla de la Garsa:

              http://www.bcnrestaurantes.com/eng/ba...

I would recommend the tasting menu, the setting is quite nice too. I think it is good to get an idea of traditional Catalan food (most of it is), and the price is very moderate. Also the service is friendly, which unfortunately is not that common in Spain... down-to-earth place.

could you telll me how much the tasting meu is?
we are students and our luxurisous diner in barcelona will be cinc sentits. we want to pay about 15€ the other nights. i dont expect anything interesting or special, just very good "mama" food.
                thanks

this is not luxurious at all. It is charming though. sort of traditional food. the tasting menu is simple yet nice. i can't remember the exact price, might be about 20 euros, without drinks. you can email them and ask, the simplest tasting menu (which was quite a bit of food already) was called 'tres tastets' i think. I doubt one can get very good 'mama' food, or any very good food for that matter, for less than 15 euros in bcn. unless of course you go for sandwiches or pizza...

Nice list. Quimet & Quimet is an interesting place but I wouldn't go there for lunch, first the place is tiny and second it is a bit pricey to have lunch there, I see it more as a place to go for a couple of tapas.

tasting menu at Cinc Sentits: i believe there are two options, a shorter one for 40 euros and a longer one for about 60 euros, without drinks.

re breakfast, there is no tradition of 'nice' breakfast there. We typically have a pastry and a 'cortado' (small latte). but you could drop by one of Viena's sandwich places and get a nice sandwich.

yes, i went to spain some time and love your "cortado con lecce" : )
if cinc sentits is 40 € i would be soooo glad, hopefully someone can confirm it.

about quimet & quimet, thaks a lot, very good to now!

              one other question.
does anybody know a restaurant near the beach called "agua" ? it seems to be quite nice and my father, a foodie, went there a few years ago.
              thanks

'agua' is OK, but it wouldn't be on my list of favourites. Given that you're going in April and it will not be hot, I would pass and go somewhere else, perhaps in the Gothic quarter. More charming.
