(To Pan) Black Sesame Ice Cream, Egg Tarts, Tofu Hua in Flushing Chinatown

Strangette Jan 13, 2009 04:08 PM

Hey Pan, read your reply. Thanks so much.

I'm ready to hear any suggestions you may have. I have a sweet tooth so can't wait.

To Everyone Else:

If you know of any places where I can get good black sesame ice cream, flaky and fattening egg custard tarts, and homemade Tofu hua (toufa) I'm all ears!

From New Orleans and traveling NYC for yummy chinese/HK/Japanese desserts.

Well for tofu fa, it's Soy Bean Chen Flower Shop, the combination tofu stand and florist at 135-26 Roosevelt.

I used to work in the area, and I often went to that place for tofu fa for brunch/lunch. I particularly like the fact that they have not only the sweet ginger sauce, but also a very good hot sauce with scallions.

Strangette, I think in your post on the Manhattan board, you also asked about bubble tea places with really good tapioca pearls. I really like Sago, 39-02 Main St. (corner of 39th Av.). I don't know if their black sesame milk tea will satisfy you, but for my money, their teas are much better than my standbys in Manhattan (Saint's Alp on 3rd Av. between 9th and 10th and Teariffic on Mott St.).

I've had Black Sesame ice cream before at China Town Ice Cream Factory. You should call ahead to see if they have the flavor that day.
