I ate at Country for brunch about a year ago and had an awful experience. The service was slow, the crowd was awful and the food was bland and over priced. I would not recommend this place.

The formal dining room at Country is no longer open to the public and is being used now for private functions. The Cafe remains open but, frankly, I'd stay far, far away. I recently had a conversation with a restaurant manager who had worked there but quit. He told me that Chef Geoffrey Zakarian (of Town) is no longer associated with Country, and the entire operation is one huge disaster.

Is this for a weekday or weekend? My picks would be EMP or GT if it's a weekday.
Note that EMP does not serve lunch on weekends. GT does not serve lunch on the weekend in the formal dining room, but the casual room in front is open.

2d the recs for Eleven Madison Park, Gramercy Tavern, and Fleur de Sel.
I haven't been, but Allegretti is in the area and on my list.
