What to have at Craft?

Going to Craft, what should I order??...and is it still confusing with the menu?

  1. I do not find the menu at Craft confusing. Just remember that everything is a la carte and served family style. For two people I would recommend 2 appetizers, 2 mains, 1-2 sides, 2 desserts. Some items are bigger and heavier than others (especially the pastas) so definitely ask your servers for help.

My favorite items on the menu are the sweetbreads, crispy bacon, foie gras (roasted), scallops, and shortribs. They do fantastic vegetable sides. I would order a medley of mushrooms (off menu but they will do this if you ask) or the sunchokes (aka jerusalem artichokes), for sure.

    1. Amen to a lot of what kathryn said. There are countless threads on this. Craft is an amazing institution and you will almost certainly wind up ordering much much more than you should but hey go for it. Definitely worth the splurge.... for me. Best app ever is their crispy "bacon". Really just fatty pork belly goodness so amazing. Porterhouse, short ribs, lobster whatever you cant go wrong. Their sides dishes are amazing (they make something so somple as carrots taste so perfect). If they have it get the corn risotto it is simply incredible but like I said they are masterful with all veggies/potatoes. Desserts can vary from disappointing to great (chocolate souffle).

The menu changes every month or so but I think they recently just updated it so what you see on the site is pretty much the menu plus or minus a few items. The dessert menu should be exact. And they always have certain things as standys on the menu- short ribs, porterhouse, ribeye, scallops.

      1. We went last night and the food was amazing. Everything so fresh and simple. We were four and we shared everything. We had the crispy bacon (wow), sweetbreads and roasted foie gras. For main we shared the cote de boeuf - served with two marrow bones, and the short ribs. The cote de boeuf was wonderful, but the short ribs were to die for, although very rich. For dessert we had the donuts, but the best was the brioch - it is right up at the top of my list of favorite desserts.Even the coffee was great. Then, as we left, the hostess gave us each a wrapped muffin 'to continue our meal in the morning." This meal knocked my socks off and I am so glad that Tom Colicchio's restaurant was so good.

Craft is one of my favorite restaurants I am glad you enjoyed it. Which brioche are your referring to? The brioche pain perdu (like the french toast kind) or the briochie that is more like bread pudding? Craft does both. Had the pain perdu which I agree is great but alwyas needed to try the bread pudding one.

It was the pain perdu - and I admit that I have never had brioche like this before. I will dream about it!!
