Atlanta - Recs for group dinner

Three restaurants have been selected as possible sites for a group (professional reunion) dinner downtown within walking distance of the Marriott Marquis. The choices are:

The Avenue
Thrive
Ray's in the City

Are there any that you would definitely recommend or stay away from?

Any other suggestions for reasonably priced restaurants that could accommodate a group of 20 or 30 would be appreciated.

I agree with Ray's - I work right down the street and we do business dinners there all the time when we have sales teams in town, for example. I would also suggest Dailey's, though there's no private space and it's not as condusive to big group dinners. The food is better and you have a broader choice of foods; Ray's can be a problem if you have people who don't eat seafood.

They have plenty of meat, too. At least at Ray's on the River, they now have small plates, too. The shrimp and grits are quite good.

The Avenue has improved its menu, but you won't have any privacy, and I'm guessing isn't the (laid-back) atmosphere that you are looking for. I haven't been to the new restaurants in your hotel, so I can't speak about them.

FAB is another option, just a few blocks away. They definitely have private areas for you.

Well, I have never been to The Avenue or Thrive but I have been to Ray's in the City and it is very good! So, good luck!
