Fredericksburg BBQ
I'm heading up there this weekend to go to the battlefields and I'm looking for some good BBQ. I saw another post and many people recommended Allman's BBQ. I did some additional searching and it turned up MANY mixed reviews about the place. Any comments or additional suggestions are appreciated.

Just an FYI - I ended up going to Allman's BBQ. It was good for a quick, cheap bite, but it wasn't the best BBQ I've ever had. The meat was on the dry side and the sauce was a tad too sweet for me. It wasn't bad by any means, just not spectacular. The old school appeal of it is very nice.

I was going to say my usual "it's awful," but in fairness, amp up everything krisrishere said above by about 300% and you'll have my feelings about Allman's.
So far, I have discovered no edible food anywhere in Fredericksburg.

"Anywhere"? Now, that's a wee bit unkind. I recall having a good, greasy fish sandwich at Mr. Dee's and an acceptable dinner at Claiborne's in the old train station. (That was about three years ago, though.) And on a summer day, go to Carl's for soft ice cream.
But otherwise I agree with Wayne.
As to barbecue in particular, just keep driving north until you reach Woodbridge and Dixie Bones.

That's my exact feeling about where I live in Norfolk...
