Valentine's Day: Veg-Friendly

My husband and I just moved to Palo Alto and we are looking for something off-the-beaten path, intimate, romantic, and moderately priced to do on Valentine's Day. We are willing to travel into SF for dinner or a show. Here are some things I have come across, and I was wondering whether they are worth it:

Maharani (Fantasy Room)
Millenium restaurant
"How we First Met" improv show at the Herbst Theatre

I am vegetarian, but my husband is not, so we don't necessarily need a vegeterian restaurant (just one that is veg-friendly). I would appreciate any comments on these places or anything else you would recommend...

I'm a BIG fan of Greens near the presidio, feels good being there and the prix fix menus are amazing too! As a meat eater I did not feel like anything was missing, quite the contrary! Greens Restaurant

I've had such awful meals at Greens. My man and I decided to try it again a few months ago, and the evening was a bust. The hosts were most interested in their personal discussion than seating us (and the room was only 1/4 filled, and we had a reservation). The food (two appetizers, two entrees, and a dessert) tasted bland, under-seasoned, and uninspiring, plus it was expensive for the quantity AND quality, and our servers kept disappearing for long periods of time. Halfway through the meal, the entire room filled up, and instead of feeling like we were in a cozy if large space, we felt like we were two of thousands. The noise level rose dramatically (perhaps because of the pavilion-like ceiling) and flagging someone down for our check took forever.

Oh, and I've been to Millennium many, many times, and love it, but if your date wants the option of eating meat, it won't fit the bill.

I have been to Green's as well and I have to admit that it's not as great as it has been hyped up to be. While the view is nice, the dining room isn't all that spectacular once the sun sets. Our meal was pretty good, but nothing spectacular.

Having said all of that, I have somehow gotten yoked into going for brunch tomorrow, so I will let you guys know how that turns out.

Looks like Chef Mourad of Aziza is headed off to "Kitchen Stadium as he battles on Iron Chef America". BTW, the cocktails here are fantastic.

Thanks for the awesome recommendation for Aziza. We just had dinner there last night and now it might very well be our favorite restaurant in the Bay area! The food was incredible for both myself (a vegetarian) and my husband (who eats meat). Thank you again for the recommendation!

I've been to Maharani before for Valentine's Day, and to be perfectly honest, it wasn't anything special. I second Saha and Aziza!

Romantic, yes. Off the beaten path, depends on what you think of the outer Richmond. Good food with choices for the veg and non-veg diner, yes. Aziza.

perfect. and unlike many restaurants, aziza hasn't historically offered extortion-priced meals on holidays.
