Really? Who would have thought. My husband and I were just complaining about our dining options in Easley while trying to hunt down decent Chinese food.

Folks, we have a new contender for Best Burger --- at least Best Burger in Columbia. I speak of the "Especiale" burger that I had at a recent brunch at the Cock N' Bull (on Rosewood). Cooked to medium, the large, juicy burger was served on big warm kaiser roll and topped with melted-in cheddar cheese, a perfectly fried egg, a pile of thickly-sliced bacon, some salad greens, tomato, and onion, with a little mayo and mustard. Amazing. It blows Rockaways out of the water, and is in a different class than Five Guys.

The place has the feel of a low-end British pub, with soccer on the TVs. It is noisy, dark, a bit messy (what do you expect with a make-your-own-Bloody-Mary-bar?), and is certainly not a place you enter with expectations of good food. But the burger was out of this world, and other food there looked good. I do not know how often the burger is served. The brunch menu seemed to consist solely of daily specials, scribbled by our waitress onto a slip of receipt paper that she laid on the table for us to decipher. I look forward to trying other items on the menu but it will be hard not to order the burger next time I go.
