Great Bay on Saturday

  • 4

4 of us went on Saturday night. I have been there several times but this was the 1st time I have seen Michael Schlow there; however, that said, he did spend the entire time in the bar area "shmoozing" with customers. Our server, Phoebe, was excellent, very friendly and accomodating. Food for the most part was outstanding: Deconstructed Clam Chowder was excellent, Lobster Dumplings were delicious; 2 of us got the Seared Diver Scallops as entrees, only 3 huge scallops but delicious; 1 got the Ahi Tuna appetizer as an entree (she actually got 1 1/2 orders) and this was also outstanding; the only "blip" was my wife ordered hangar steak medium well and it came out medium rare and she also did not like the taste; it was returned after 1 bite and was replaced by more lobster dumplings. All and all, a very good meal.

  1. Had you been before? I'm wondering if its improved. I've eaten there a number of times without having a particularly good meal, and have given up on it. But I can always be convinced to change my mind.

This was actually my 4th time being there. Overall, I do like their food and the atmosphere but I also believe that they are way over-priced and I would probably not go if I was paying full price. I do like that they try to do a little more creative take on seafood rather than your typical: baked, broiled or fried.

I also enjoy the food there. Often my wife and I will just share appetizers and one entree. That way we get to taste many things. My last meal there was with a group of six and everyone enjoyed it.

      2. I have always liked Great Bay. They used to have a FANTASTIC Sunday Brunch (haven't been in a while, so I'm not sure if they still do). Much better than at ESK. It's definitely overpriced, but the food is quite god and I like the atmosphere!
