Mama Mia Cafe's Falafel, San Mateo

My post holiday diet led me to Mama Mia Cafe on 25th St.. in San Mateo. I was getting a haircut on the same street and spied a person at the window seat eating a falafel that looked particularly good. I said what the hell and went in.

I was greeted by an extremely charming lady at the counter and after reviewing the menu I ordered the falafel and took a seat. It came in a matter of minutes and I had a few bites and she noticed my satisfaction and came over to ask me how it was. We chatted for a bit and I told her that it was pretty phenomenal. I found out that the falafel was homemade by her daughter.

It came inside a pita with lettuce, freshly made hummus, and the same with the tabouli. The falafel itself had a great crunch on the outside with a light and fluffy interior. I left without feeling over-bloated and she encouraged me to come back to try the meatloaf sandwich, which I heavily debated getting. Drop by if you're in the area!
