missy52 Jan 10, 2009 03:57 PM

My anniversay is Next Sat. and we were going out of town but plans have changed and we need a nice place to go for dinner. We dont want to spend more than $150 for both (we dont drink).

Last year we went to crispo which was really great!! Any suggestions would be great!

Congrats on the 5 years! Can you be more specific as to what kind of food you like? Any restrictions as far as neighborhood goes?

My wife and I never feel like we need to be a quiet, white tablecloth places for special occasions but I'd love to have a special dinner at Tia Pol at the bar. For $150 you can go through much of the menu and you'll have a blast. If you like seafood, I'd also give Tides a try. Cozy and really great fish and shellfish.

More traditionally romantic places that are within your price range that I'd recommend are: Perry Street, Cacio e Pepe, Devi, Lupa (well, maybe loud and not that romantic but delicious!).

    Congrats and enjoy your meal!

We had a wonderful anniversary dinner recently at Gramercy Tavern. I think you can stay under 150 without drinks. Not normally a place you can get a Sat night table, but these days it's possible.

Did you eat in the Tavern Room or in the formal dining room? It is not possible to eat in the dining room for under $150, even without drinks, because the cost for the 3-course prix-fixe is $86. And let's not forget that tax @nearly 9% and a 20% tip must be included in the out-the-door cost.

Wow, really? Maybe I'm mis-remembering. Perhaps I was so drunk on the wonderful food that I forgot the true check amount. Sorry...my bad!

You could also look into Le Gigot.

Olana or Convivio would be great choices which will fit your budget.

Both good choices- Convivio is a very good deal at $58 for four courses. I'll also add our personal favorite in this price range, Perilla. We've been many times and have never been disappointed.

Yes, Perilla is great too. I would also add Scarpetta, Bar Blanc, and Degustation.,
