Woody's - Sparkill

I've been fgoingt to Woody's lately, always sitting at the bar, and I have to say I really like it there. I especially like their appetizers, or items on the bar menu. I've had great wings, it might sound funny, but you can see they really cared about the celery they give you. Lot's of places just dump some limp wet pieces, but each of these was cut nicely, & mostly made up of the hearts. The blue cheese dressing is thick with chunks of blue cheese, the wings were crispy and still moist on the inside. The burger is great, juicy, with a nice charred taste. I've had chicken paprickash, but it was bit different then what I was expecting, but ok. The spaetzle were nice. I had this great lemon chiffon dessert once, and also had the pumpkin cheesecake, haven't had a disspointing dessert, or for that matter nothing has really disappointed me. I've heard the lamb chops were really good too. It's nice to have a place like this close to home, good food, and a warm friendly atmosphere. I do wish they had beer on tap!

Passed this place on a buzz-through Sparkill last week. Seems to be under the radar. Any current reports on this place? Is it a glorified pub, or what? How's the food and the atmosphere?

It's a bar restaurant. Not a pub at all. They don't have anything on tap. My last few visits were bar food. There's a lot of info on Lohud.com for a more complete recap on the menu. I really like it, but it can be a bit expensive.

So they have a "bar" without a tap. Interesting. What about atmosphere?

P.S. checking on Lohud, there's only a short review from May 2008 and a blog about Restaurant Week. Not much info about the menu, pricing, and atmosphere. Nothing about the meal experience. Where is the info you are talking about on Lohud?

The atmosphere is simple, traditional, not a trendy type of place, more old school. The bar is a combination of locals, and those coming in for a dinner. Here's the link. http://lizjohnson.lohudblogs.com/2009...

Yes, I found that one. It's just about the HV Restaurant Week deal that they were running back in March. Nothing about the everyday menu.

The video shows you the interior you were asking about.
They do give good portions, but I think their menu is a bit expensive. The one item I didn't care for was a fish dish with a francaise sauce. You seem very interested, give the place a try and see for yourself.
