Chorizo in astoria or anywhere in queens

Hi Folks,

I need to get some chorizo - i only need about 2 links.

Any suggestions on where I can get some? Astoria would be most convenient, but I have a car so anywhere in queens is fine.

Thanks

International Meat Market on 30th ave and 36th in Astoria usually has a few different types of Chorizo.

I get Palacios dry Spanish chorizo at both Natural market and Cheese of the World, both on Austin St. in Forest Hills, within a few blocks of each other...Its usually about $6.99...love that stuff and always keep it on hand in the fridge...

I second Despana but they come in packages of four. Just bought some the other day.

What kind of chorizo are you looking for? Spanish, Mexican, Colombian, etc.?

Despana on Northern Boulevard (closer to Jackson Heights) will have great chorizo.

I can't tell from their website - is the Northern Blvd location a retail store or do i have to go to the soho location?

It is a retail store specializing in products from Spain. So it will have Spanish chorizo. If you're looking for Mexican, Columbian -- Jackson Heights is a better choice.

Con, yes, Despana on Northern Boulevard was there way before the one in Manhattan.

charming store as well, got tons of stuff. and, they have quite a range of diff. chorizo products as well. don't go there trying to buy nyora peppers though, because they only sell the whole ones in these enormous 4-foot chains.

Despana is defintely in Jackson Heights -- has been for a very long time. Not an inviting window display, well, there aren't any real windows to have a display -- but it's on Northern between 86th and 87th Streets..

Yes, you're totally correct -- it's in Jackson Heights. I don't know why but I keep thinking of that area more as East Elmhurst.
