Lunch recommendation Queen & University

A few friends are meeting mid-week for lunch. I'm not familiar with the restaurants in the area - we don't mind walking a bit. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Hi Marniee, I guess we may need to know more about what your friends like/expect. For example... I love the Queen Mother too but I'd meet up there with some casual university friends, on a day when we're all in our jeans; whereas I'd go to Nota Bene or Osgoode Hall with business contacts I'm trying to impress. Or my mother, on her birthday. All good options but entirely different style.

It's more of a casual get together.

Yes, Trimurti is great. DELICIOUS buffet...always hot, great options for vegetarians, people who don't even like indian (like pasta salad, etc). I have never had a bad meal there. And it's cheap!

Nota Bene or the Dining Room at Osgoode Hall would be my picks.

Second Osgoode Hall. Make a reso, don't tell them where you're going and wow'em when they walk in. There's also Cooks on 8 in the Bay at Queen and Bay. I haven't been there in a while though - anyone have any current knowledge?

I like the Queen Mother Café. I used to go there all the time for lunch when I worked in the neighbourhood. Their lunches are really delicious and reasonably priced, and the atmosphere is elegant but casual. The menu is eclectic — it include provençal dishes, dim sum, pad thai, veggie and grain burgers — they used to have the BEST turkey burger!

Ho Su japanese restaurant a bit further west on Queen is wonderful. Some of the cheapest sushi in the city, and the avocado rolls are to die for! Huge, perfectly ripe chunks of avocado.
