Phoenix Italian

Hi,

I am going to be in Phoenix for the Marathon on Sunday, the 17th. I am looking for recommendations for moderately priced Italian food/pasta on the evening of the 16th. I am thinking the normal spots (ie. Chains, oreganoes) will be crazy busy with all of the runners in town so I am thinking something off the beaten path would be nice.

I will probably be staying downtown, but possibly in Tempe.

Thanks,

Wow. I didn't think so many people still piled on the pasta after all the low-carb diet hysteria a few years ago. I'm pleasantly surprised.

    Two of my favorites:

Aiello's -- Central Phoenix, not too far from Downtown
    Caffe Boa -- Downtown Tempe

Marcellino is wonderful -- as mentioned in other threads -- but maybe a bit pricier than you're looking for.

    Caffe Boa

    Aiello's
5202 North Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85012

No, Beelow's is gone. I believe it has been replaced by one of those bars with dueling pianos. I cant remember the name of the new place right now.

Big Bang. Go to Rula Bula or Casey Moore's if you're in and around Mill Ave. Big Bang is only cool if you're into:

            1) getting blackout drunk
            2) karaoke
            3) public humilation
            4) a combo of #1 - 3

            I loved Beelow's.

ok, I made a reservation at cafe Boa, thanks for the tips.

Sad about Beelow's, I graduated from ASU (In San Diego now) and use to love that place.
