Preserved lemons in the Plateau?

Keramel Jan 8, 2009 07:36 AM

Does anyone know a place where I can purchase these in the Plateau area? I know I can find them at the JTM but I don't want to drag myself there in all this snow.

Vieille Europe had jarred ones last week, but I tried the brand before and it is inferior to the ones I get from the stores at JTM. I'll be interested in better sources as well if you find any.

I saw some in a small market store on St. Viateur when I was going to Cafe Olimpico (sp ?). It was sort of diagonally across the street from the cafe and I forget the name of the establishment.. They had them in a large jar of brine so I think they sold them individually by weight. Hope that helps.

You may be referring to Marché Latina:

Mile End is a bit of a hike for me, I'm closer to Sherbrooke. I tried several stores in my area with no luck. I might just have to suck it up and go to the JTM or try JadeMyst's suggestion if I want to find these.

          Thanks for the suggestion.

I made a batch last year, from about 12 lemons.
Over a year later, they're still in a back room, and I have no idea how I'm going to go through them all.
However, if you care to wait 6 months, they're quite easy to make. I'm sure there's a recipe in the home cooking section of this board.
