I am traveling to New Orleans for the first time for a conference. I also am traveling with my PhD cohort who are all new to the country and as the only "native" I am the designated tour guide. I know some places from my parents that I need to hit like Cafe du Monde, Central Bakery, WIllie Mae's Scotch House and Acme Oyster House, but I need help. I am looking for good authentic Creole or Cajun food and good seafood. Bear in mind we are grad students and if I had an "August" budget I wouldn't have a problem. I'm a foodie so fire away!

Our conference is in a hotel near the Superdome, but I am going to travel to at least the French Quarter and possibly beyond.

Any input is appreciated!
Thanks
Leah

  1. Try the Napolean House on Chartres. The atmosphere is wonderful and the food is priced well.

    1. try Li'l Dizzy's Cafe on Poydras in the Whitney Wyndham, Luke on St. Charles Ave., Cochon on Tchoupitloulas, Coop's Place on Decatur, which can be affordable depending on how you order.
