Jelly Belly jelly beans

So, this may not be the most chow-ish of queries, but I'm slightly obsessed with the pink grapefruit jelly beans from Jelly Belly which they sell (or sold) at the Truffles Confections in the Prudential Mall. On my last excursion the store was papered over due to a fire. Does anyone know a) when they're reopening or b) what other candy stores sell Jelly Belly jelly bean in those make-your-own-mix bulk bins. I think Sugar Heaven on Newbury closed and I'm drawing a blank as to other places that are T accessible. Thoughts?

  1. Well, I believe you'd have to take a bus, not the T, but there is a Jelly Belly store in the Jordan's Furniture complex in Reading. The 136 and 137 buses leave from Malden Center and Oak Grove and stop on the street that is in front of Jordans.

Yes. That's the only place you can get all the flavors singly. Including each of the sours (which is why I know). Rent a Zipcar and do your groceries at the wonderful Market Basket across the way and you will save some $$.

    2. The IMAX theater lobby at Jordan's Furniture in Reading is decorated in faux jelly beans and there's a Jelly Belly store with prepacked and bulk bins. There are also trapeze lessons, Fuddrucker's and a Richardson's Ice Cream so you might want to go there on an empty stomach!

      1. Seems chow-ish enough to me in the "slightly obsessed" vein! :)

Call before visiting, but I vaguely remember that Hidden Sweets, in Harvard/Brattle Square, has mix-your-own Jelly Belly beans. I have, however, often considered Hidden Sweets to be pricey.

Perfect! I knew there was someplace I wasn't thinking of. Their website says they have over 250 types of bulk candy including jelly belly. I'll cross my fingers for pink grapefruit! Thank you!

They have dozens of flavors of Jelly Belly at Hidden Sweets, incl. pink grapefruit when last I checked. (admittedly, last Easter!)

          2. Truffles used to also have a shop on the Copley Place end of the bridge from the Prudential mall - is that still there? There also used to be another candy shop at the Pru end of the bridge, next to the Crane's Paper shop. However, I freely admit it's been almost 10 years since I stopped working in the Back Bay and so I'm not exactly up to date on shops around there.

            1. You can order directly from Jelly Belly at www.jellybelly.com. They were offering free shipping on many flavors. If you ever find yourself in NorCal, the factory tour is fun and if you have kids they will love it.
