I just was sent the link yesterday! Am planning on going there this weekend, probably along with everyone else in Chicago, before the episode airs. Hope it's worth the long drive and probable wait!

They have multiple locations, including one in Evanston. It's just good and not worth a long drive or a long wait. I suspect he picked it because it was among the better Hyde Park options in 2001, not because it's a "must visit" eatery.

I don't think Obama chose this restaurant because it is one of the better places in Hyde Park. Dixie Kitchen is actually worth the wait and drive if you enjoy southern style cooking. When I lived in Chicago I visited this eatery at least once every couple of months because this type of authentic southern cuisine is hard to find in the city. The Oyster Po'boy is amazing as well as the gumbo! They give you johnny cakes before the meal which are like mini cornmeal pancakes with a honey butter. This place is definitely worth the drive, and trust me Obama didn't pick this place because there isn't anywhere else, he has the whole city!
