Wife is turning 40 and need a nice place for 90-100 people....

Looking around for a fun place in hollywood/downtown L.A. area that can accommodate a large group, and
has good food that is not too expensive.
She really likes steak, mac n cheese and the such, any recommendations would be appreciated.
I'm also considering a fancy bar that has tasty snacks/food.

How about The Edison? A friend had a birthday gathering there and it was great. There were only about 15-20 of us, so we didn't really make arrangements ahead of time. Maybe they'd be able to arrange something private for you and your party.

Thanks, do you know if their food is any good?

When we were there, we stuck to bar snacks--deviled eggs, fries, chicken wings and the like--and they were good as far as standard fare goes. Not "blow my mind" good but after a few cocktails, I wasn't complaining. What did blow my mind, however, was the space. It is just beautiful.

Maybe other hounds who have actually dined there can chime in.

Do you require a private room, and are you looking for a usually busy night, like a Friday or Saturday? If not, then you may be able to work with someone like Church & State, or Ciudad. The Edison is a really fun place for a party - there is a great area downstairs - but I can't speak for the food.

Yes, I was planning on a Saturday night.
Don't think we need a private room, but our group is pretty large, so I wouldn't mind.
