Madrid to Barcelona via San Sebastian
We are taking a trip in May starting in Madrid ending up in Barcelona for total of a week travel time. Will be driving toward Barcelona by way of Bilbao, San Sebastian and points in between. Our goal is to eat our way across northeastern Spain, especially tapas, lots of tapas, wine and sherry. It will be as if we're on "full feed and water" that entire time. Adventurous eaters, but want traditional style too (paella!)
Any suggestions, advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks !
If you are including Madrid and Barcelona in the one week, I think that is a too much of an area to cover. You will find great tapas/pintxos in these areas. But if budget allows, I would splurge and dine at one of the top restaurants around San Sebastian. Drink cider and txakoli with pintxos in the Basque area. Save paella for Barcelona where one has a better chance of getting a good version though arroz is the specialty of the area.
