Taped in 2001 in an episode of "Check Please" in Chicago, Obama extols simple, as opposed to haute, cuisine:

Apparently the episode never aired because it was felt Obama dominated the discussion too much, but times have changed and it will air later this month.

I think someone mentioned this on another thread. If anyone hears about it being broadcast nationally, I hope they'll post that info.

I only know of it being broadcast in Chicago on the local PBS Station channel 11. Their call letters are WTTW. Maybe you can access the episode on-line?

Good luck!

They generally don't have full episodes available online, only short clips, but I wouldn't be surprised if they put this episode up in full. My experience with the restaurant he reviewed is that it is generally crowded with a wait to be seated, somewhat noisy but the food is usually pretty good.

Thanks, trentyzan. This got erased from my DVR before I got a chance to watch it. Unfortunately, the restaurant in question is closing, before I even tried it!
