Recs for Lunch in Brookline Village
Heading in from the suburbs to the doctor on Route 9Chestnut Hill and would like to take advantage of "city" food offerings. Any recs for lunch around Rt. 9 Brookline to Chestnut Hill? We like all kinds of food...

I will 3rd (or 4th) a few of the ones mentioned already:
Orinoco
Brookline Family Restaurant
Sichuan Garden
New England Soup FactoryTo add to the list:
Tashi Delek for solid Tibetian cuisine
Bottega di Capri: They make one of the better Italian sandwiches I have had, also check the special's board as well for some really good and simple Italian fare
Brookline Spa: Only a very small area for sit down eating, but they make excellent subs and also make some of the best Pizza in the city in my opinion.
Kookoo Cafe: Great space, excellent coffee, Lattes and Teas, solid baked goods and a diverse and tasty lunch menu. The inspiration for the menu is middle eastern and they have a good selection of vegetarian choices.
I will also have to disagree about the Smokehouse, it is honestly some of the worst BBQ I have had, no evidence of any smoke flavor (or scent) at all.
Also remember that Coolidge Corner is close by, so that will offer quite a few other good options

I second Sichuan Garden. There's also Brookline Family Restaurant, right next door to Sichuan Garden - good homey Turkish food.

re: Allstonian
Thanks for the links! I'll third Sichuan Garden, and second Family Restaurant. Oishii is phenomenal sushi, if you can get a seat.
I'm afraid I must disagree with Lauren about the Village Smokehouse. Every few years I go back to try again, and it only seems to devolve. It is cheap, though in price and quality both. (Sorry, Lauren!)
