Hollywood

I'm looking for a place to take 8-10 people for my boyfriend's birthday this weekend. Most of the people are fellow hounds so I need somewhere with good food and service.

  1. Lola's on Harrison Street. Had a wonderful, hound-worthy dinner with great service recently at Armadillo Beach in Dania Beach as well.

    1. I like La Barracas for the atomosphere and the flamenco... :) http://www.paellas.com/

      1. I second Lola's. Just had a spectacular meal there last night.

We went to Lola's a few weeks ago on the basis of chowhound recs and loved it. Our favorite things were the coca cola beef ribs, the crab cake, the ricotta gnocchi, the flat iron steak and the warm spinach salad with an egg.

We felt the prices were very fair and there was great service.

        2. If you are looking to stay in the downtown Hollywood area I would recommend Lola's on Harrison. Fulvio's is another option if you prefer Italian. Sage Cafe (French) recently opened but I had a very bad experience regarding the service and food so I would pass. Tried La Barraca recently and enjoyed it and is an option if you like Tapas.
If you have some flexibility you can head a little south of Hollywood and try Bourbon Steak (mina in Aventura) or Timo.

Just went to Sage in Hollywood last night, and had a great experience. The welcome was warm and friendly, our waiter was quite knowledgeable (and quick), and the food was great. I had the Pistachio Encrusted Tilapia, and the wife had the Meat Loaf. A little LaTour Pinot, and I was a happy camper. Really liked the attention to detail, all organic foods, and as much locally grown as possible.

Sage is open for lunch now and I was in the area recently and stopped by and it was much better than my dinner experience. I had the filet sandwich with caramelized onions, mushrooms, bleu cheese and balsami served on a ciabata roll. Filet was great and the combo worked. They have a 2 for 1 lunch special going on too.
