Does anyone know where I can find the online menu for Convivio's Sunday Dinner?

i booked convivio last night, they are really low on openings so if you are interested get in there quickly. Chef White has not come up with a menu yet, but if they are pulling anything from the regular menu I'm sure it will be delicious and worth it. As of last night they had before 5:30 or after 9 on the 18th and 25, nothing in between.

Most places won't have the menu up until a week or less before RW starts.

convivo would be high on my list, but they do dinner only on sundays and only lunch every other day of the week.

modern bar room is a good bet. they won't let you down there.

i've never been to tocqueville during RW, but normally have found it excellent and would certainly recommend it highly.

i have reservations at le cirque, olana, and town.

as far as le cirque goes - i figure, it's a bit formal for my usual tastes and when i'm spending big money on a meal, there are other places with better food reputations i'd rather be, but it still has a charm and history to it, so RW seems like as good a time as any. and if it's really that bad, then it will only serve to confirm that i dont want to go back there for a special meal when i could be at JG or EMP instead.

also i was considering trading town for lever house -- thoughts on that?

What do you mean by Convivo doing lunch "every other day of the week?"

you know how some RW spots are lunch only, dinner only or both? well, it appears that convivo is lunch only on M-F (not offering dinner those nights), and then on sundays of RW is offering dinner only (and not lunch.)

at least that is my best interpretation from the OT RW directory listing.

You are correct that Convivio only serves lunch Mon.-Fri., so those are the days they are offering RW lunch. The listing also shows that they are offering RW dinner Mon.-Fri., as well on the two Sundays of the two Restaurant Weeks.

We never do RW, but that said, these are the places I would suggest:

The Modern is listed for dinner, but I wonder if this is a mistake, and it should have been lunch only. Definitely worth checking. http://www.themodernnyc.com

        Convivio - http://www.convivionyc.com

        Tocqueville - http://www.tocquevillerestaurant.com

I have reservations at Blue Water Grill and Le Cirque same night (1/23) - which would you choose? I assume Le Cirque -

And Nobu Next Door and Convivio 1/30 - same question - which is a better choice?

We can only go on Friday night (1/23, 1/30) so I made 2 reservations for each night. Your help is greatly appreciated!

My friends went to Le Cirque for the last RW and said the service was haughty, only certain non-primetime reservations get the RW menu, and the portions were miniscule.

I did, too, and the portions were TINY. the shrimp course had one shrimp! luckily, there's a McDonald's right around the corner...because we definitely needed something afterwards. oh, and we were a party of three twenty-something girls...not huge eaters.

Le Cirque is more name than food. The last 2 times i was there i would give it a zagat 17. Nobu next door has some good dishes.

The Bar Room at the Modern has done dinner (surprisingly) for the last 2-3 RWs. I assume they get enough lunchtime traffic via offices nearby or MoMA visitors. Perhaps NYCgo.com simply didn't enter it in the database as "the Bar Room," which is what it's been the last few times.

I had a great RW dinner here. Funny story: We had 4 people and there were 3 choices on the menu for each course. We wanted to order 1 of everything so we could all try as many dishes as possible but we obviously had to double up on one choice. We asked the waiter which one we should order 2 of and he gave us his thoughtful opinion. When the first course came out, we realized he though the 4 of us were splitting 2 RW menus. We probably didn't explain ourselves very well but what was amazing was that they placed the dishes on 2 corners of the table and couldn't have been more gracious even thinking we were splitting 2 dinner between 4 people. Can't think of another restaurant that would have handled the misunderstanding that way. Anyway, we all laughed and got the rest of the choices and everything was wonderful. I remember the fried sweetbreads being especially good.

                    Enjoy!

Have dined at the Bar Room, RW and non-RW. One of the better service with quality dishes in the city for the price point.

The RW here is certainly one of the best QPR anywhere.
