Report (Angelini, Fraiche, Joe's, and Jar)

  • 1

My parents and brother were in town. We went to Angelini, Fraiche, Joe's, and Jar. Although the consensus was not perfect, most of us thought food was best at Joe's and Jar, and then at Fraiche and Angelini.

At Joe's every single dish we ordered was excellent. The same goes for Jar, were we skipped appetizers and only ordered mains (most of us had a rib eye, which was wonderful) and dessert.

Fraiche was a mixed experience, and I must say I was rather underwhelmed (especially since I think I had pretty high expectations about Fraiche prior to visiting). Some of the dishes (a pasta dish with oxtail ragu, for instance) were very clearly underseasoned (someone must have forgotten to salt them in the kitchen).

Angelini, once again (this is my third visit), was incredibly inconsistent. Some dishes were quite good, but some were in the verge of being unacceptable (including, much to my surprise, some of their pasta dishes).

Overall, a very happy (and calorie intensive) chowing experience. The parents were overall happy with most of the meals. Next time they visit we'll do more hole in the wall places.

Thanks to all the kind local hounds who provided valuable info prior to our visits to these restaurants.
