Pho in Outer Richmond?
Looking for a great place to get a steaming bowl of pho after a walk at Lands End. Outer Richmond would be ideal, but can drive further in if that makes more sense. I've read mixed reports about the Geary Turtle Tower location so am interested in anything you all have to say about that destination.
Thanks!

PPQ Dungeness? Don't know about their pho, but they are generally liked.

For Pho Ga (chicken) I really like Turtle Tower on Geary between 21st & 22nd Ave's. Superb broth and house-made noodles.
I haven't had the Pho at PPQ Dungeness Island, but one of my favorite beef pho's is at their original restaurant on Irving at 19th.

Irving Street is not in the Richmond. It is in the Sunset.

Turtle Tower is like the Soup Nazis of Pho. Pho Garden on Clement and 21st is the best. Try the #8 if you have a big appetite. The service can be a little, ehh, but they are really nice, unlike Turtle Tower that will give you a hard time for asking for hoison....

I have never had a problem with the service at TT. But then again, I've never asked for the hoison sauce...

I like Pho Garden on Clement and 22nd Avenue, because it's clean and the atmosphere is quiet so that you can enjoy your meal. The chicken broth is excellent. Everything comes out fresh. The service is nice and they have wine and beer. It's very reasonable priced. It's the best kept secret in the neighborhood.

I drove by another new Pho place on Clement btwn 19th & 20th. I think it used to be Grand River (a hot pot place).

Just throwing this out there since it hasn't been mentioned, but Quan Ngon (aka Pho Ha Noi) on Clement Street near 8th and 9th Streets have great pho. (The other rice dishes are just so-so, but the pho broth is great and I bet the Pho ga would be good). The place is large and clean. It's across the street from the New May Wah Supermarket so you can do some shopping afterwards.

I like Pho Quan Ngon's northern style Pho, and they have another branch? at 2511 Noriega Street.

They are closed. There's a sign to direct you to their Noriega place.

Well if you don't mind a place that is completely unpretentious check out the Americana Grill at 36/Balboa. You wouldn't know it by the name but they have great Pho...plus you could walk there from Land's End.

Any of the other viet dishes you recommend besides the pho?
I'd heard about this diner meets Italian and Vietnamese spot before, but the recs were for breakfast or burgers here. I'd love to hear what's good on the Vietnamese side of the menu.

Pho Garden, On 22nd Ave and Clement, outside green color, looks like cow decorations. They have 10% special till 5/31/09. Their chicken soup is yummy.
Balboa and 46th Avenue? next to Kam's and on the side of the theater. I really like their duck soup.

They just opened a new location of Pho Clement on Geary & 18th--where Prince Cafe and about 5 other places in the last 10 years.
Went there and the Pho was good, but the rolls are greasy and remind me of Chinese..
