The King of Oviedo is Dead!

  • 4

I can't believe it! My husband and I went last night to eat at Bill's Elbow South, home of the King of Oviedo best dessert ever, only to find the place dark and shut down. What happened and where am I going to get pierogies and green beans now?

(and what's up with all the good restaurants in Orlando closing, huh?)

  1. For Pierogis, as well as stuffed cabbage, blood sausage, potato pancakes, etc., try Polonia in Longwood on 17-92, just south of the intersection with 434.

I remember those green beans from the original Bill's Elbow South and they were incredible!! Let's hope Bill resurfaces somewhere else.

As for good restaurants closing, I hate to say it, but I think we're going to see more closings this year now with the holidays behind us. More and more folks are saying they've cut back considerably on going out to eat. Hubby and I continue to eat out, we're just cutting back on the $100+ nights and using coupons whenever we can....

Bill actually died some time ago. i don't know who was running the place in his absence. The place they were leasing was expensive! And i think that mall chain is going belly up!

Yes, Bill died a few years ago. The restaurant closed on September 22, per the website. A guy named Aron Goodenbury, or something like that, was the manager but I never could figure out who owned the place. The closing is sad, and scary.

    2. Thanks for your replies. I will definitely try Polonia. Yeah, that mall sucks and has bad parking. Without Bill's there's no reason for me to ever go there.
