Looking for good eats in Brisbane

Zinc Saucier Jan 3, 2009 07:28 AM

Hello,

I'm traveling to Brisbane in a couple of weeks, and would like to get some ideas on where I can get some good food. It can range from good cheap eats to an upscale place like e'cco. If there is anything really noteworthy please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the tip kmh, this will help out a lot.

I saw some other sites that pointed out some of the restaurants listed here, but it also listed a lot of places no other site has mentioned. Looking at the prices, is it just me or are the restaurants and bars in Brisbane pretty expensive?

      Any good cheap eats?

You must try Alto. Incredible food, very relaxed, very few misses on the menu (the Goats Milk Panna Cotta would be one to avoid) and very cheap. It's at the Powerhouse, Google will show you. I can't bear a week without at least one dinner there.

I am increasingly convinced it's a restaurant fairly indicative of where dining is moving to in Brisbane at least.

I have to recommend 'Brents - The dining experience'. It's a little restaurant hidden in suburban Toowong, but does a fantastic degustation menu - have been there several times and have not been dissapointed.
Also, if you're in the valley, try Anise - it's a 12 or 15 seat wine bar - seating is at the bar and they have a huge range of great wine by the glass and I've always been impressed with the food.
