        <content>the first is called dewars, just off the railway cantonment bridge. built in the 1920's to serve british soldiers, its a bar (which happily flouts the no-smoking rule) with a genius serving up snacks: the brain masala and fried fish are supreme.

the next is savoury in fraser town. kannadigas returning from the middle east set up this wonderful spot; i ate some of the best hummus, chicken with garlic sauce (no it wasn't toom, more yogurt+garlic) i've ever eaten.
