Monterey / Carmel -Recommend great dining with a view (by the water, etc.)?

I am staying in California for business then hopefully some enjoyment on the weekend when I visit the Monterey / Carmel area.

Can you please recommend a restaurant with a nice view/attractive surrounding? Are there some restaurants by the water you can recommend? I'm thinking that Monterey would be known for their seafood, so I'm hoping there's a great dining establishment you can share your insight on.

Would appreciate your expert advice on this. Thanks for taking the time to share.

  1. Pacific's Edge in the Park Hyatt in Highlands has an incredible view. Also a good restaurant (high end) with a wonderful wine list. Its a few minutes south of Carmel.

    1. Carmel itself doesn't have sea view restaurants, though HoosierFoodie rec for Pacific's Edge should be considered.

In Monterey, restaurants on Fisherman's Wharf and Cannery Row have bay views, but many are touristy. My favorites are Cafe Fina (on the Wharf) and The Sandbar and Grill (on the nearby commercial wharf). Back in the day Massaro and Santos had both view and good food, but recent reports indicate that while the view is still good, the food . . .

My favorite restaurant in the area is Passionfish, but there you get the view of a gas station or a strip mall.

Here are some of my posts on the Monterey Peninsula, though this is far from inclusive:

Enjoy your visit - it is a beautiful place.

      1. Restaurants with a view in Monterey are mostly for tourists, the food is usually not worth the price.

You also might want to consider Roy's at Inn at Spanish Bay.
