Birthday Dinner Challenge

I am stumped. My birthday weekend is also inauguration weekend. So that to start eliminates a number of restaurants due to crowds. I want to do a dinner with a group of friends but not everyone can afford an expensive meal. My goal would be to keep the entree between $14 and $22. The other part of the challenge is that I am interested in a restaurant that is not somewhere I would just go for a casual meal with a friend after work as it is my birthday. Finally, the goal is to go out to dinner and then out to a bar or something. My friend and I have thrown around several options including: Perry's and Tabaq Bistro. Any suggestions you recommend would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Where are you looking in terms of location? That would help to narrow it down.
(NoVA or Just DC? If DC, then whereabouts?)

    1. maybe the new matchbox would be a good choice in your price range. i know you said no casual meal after work type place, but since it's a new location maybe that would make the experience seem less ordinary.

      1. Michel Richard's Central has options in that price range. It also has much more expensive options, but people who have a tighter budget can certainly choose accordingly. The one potential downside is the drinks aren't cheap, but the food is really good and if you can arrange for a table in front of the open kitchen, it's a lot of fun. It is loud, and they can't accomodate groups larger than 8.
