Boyfriend's birthday is coming up. I've decided on taking him to have some Peking duck for dinner at Yeah Shanghai on Bayard St. (i dont like to go to the peking duck house b/c ever since they renovated, they've been snooty to the non-white people) I cant decide where to take him for dessert. We had creme brulee at some fancy restaurant somewhere in long island a few weeks ago and he loved it so i was looking for a place to take him that might have some bombastic brulee (proper use of bombastic? who knows) around the neighborhood. My mom suggested Ceci Cela's on Spring Street. Any reviews or other suggestions? I'm open to having other things instead of brulee.

I try not go to to Chikalicious in the winter because waiting outside for a table can get quite painful and cold. And if you come too late you probably won't make it in before they close, at 10:45pm.

You can try Ferrara's , although they won't have creme brulee. It's an Italian dessert place.

Depending on the weather, the Dessert Truck parked near St. Marks Place (8th & 3rd) might be a fun option. Love their chocolate bread pudding. They also have creme brulee(haven't tried yet). Their website mentions they will be closed a few weeks for a winter break so check before going.

I love the desserts at How Sweet It is Pastry Shop on 123 Allen St. Very creative, delicious, and absolutely beautiful to look at. It's a cozy shop with a small sitting area.

The Dessert Truck's creme brulee is great. We went by on Saturday night, and there was no sign of them, but I haven't been in the area since.

Ceci Cela is OK, nothing amazing. I like the chocolate bread pudding at the Dessert Truck, when they're there, but of course, there's no place to sit there, and it's cold outside. I don't recommend Ferrara on Grand St., but if you feel a need to go to an Italian pastry place and don't want to go up to Rocco's on Bleecker St. (which I would recommend), La Bella Ferrara on Mulberry between Canal and Hester is OK.
