Years ago Mom & Dad took us to Ernie's Esquire and Figaretti's (in the early 70's). Will be going to Wheeling on a trip to the casino, any recommendations for dinner? Do these restos still exist? Are they worth visiting? The food at the casino any good? Ogelbay Lodge any good food? Any other recommendations? Pretty open with cuisine, would like nice place for dinner with tablecloth, no fast food. Thanks!

A fantastic view, very nice room & menu (as of summer 08) is the lodge at Oglebay resort - surprising. Plus it's a wonderful place to stroll around after dinner. Also nice in an old-fashioned, golf club kind of way is Stratford Springs. For outstanding family-style Italian go to Undo's (there are a couple in the area, all the same family).

The food at the casino is OK. The Pointe is their fancy steakhouse restaurant, which is right off the gaming floor (fortunately it has heavy doors to keep the infernal slot machine noise out, but everytime someone opens it you get to hear them again). It's fairly expensive, though. I like to eat at the Terrace Room, which overlooks the greyhound track, but it is currently closed for renovation (which is a good thing because it was in need). I'm not sure I'd bother with any of the other places, though the buffet seems to be popular. I was impressed with my room service breakfast though, one of the things I ordered was a fresh fruit plate, which was quite tasty and there was lots of it.
