Saturday lunch near Yale Club
the yale club is on vanderbilt and 44th.
if you don't care about decor at all, indus express on 48th between 5th and 6th is excellent for chaat and good for other n. indian preps (the s. indian is less impressive).
insieme (italian) on 51st and 7th offers a more white tablecloth experience, is quite passable wrt brunch food.
morrell wine bar (new american) is similar: good food, though probably overpriced for what it is.
smith and wollensky is great for lunch. it's an old school steak / burger / seafood establishment.
and if you really feel like splurging, le bernardin has an excellent sat. lunch. lb specializes in all thing seafood.
insieme serves foods are are typically served as brunch foods (i.e. eggs benedict, french toast, bagels w/ smoked salmon), but it is helpful to point out that the timing may not work for the OP.
here are parts of the menu for the OP in case he/she is interested:
Herbed Egg White Omelet $16
Poached Eggs Alla Fiorentina with Prosciutto Cotto on an English Muffin $19
Salmon Benedict on an English Muffin with Hollandaise Sauce $21
Frittata with Marinated Portobello Mushroom and Taleggio Cheese $17
Side of Bacon, Sausage or Prosciutto Cotto $ 7
Spiced French Toast with Roasted Fruits $16
Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with Market Berries $15
“Spruce Point” Smoked Salmon on Toasted Bagel with Traditional Garnishes $17
Affettati-Coppa, Prosciutto di San Daniele, Salami & Mortadella $18
you are, however, right about le bernardin NOT serving lunch on Sat. (sorry OP.) i'm not sure why i have a memory of having eaten lunch there on a saturday. perhaps there was a change in the restaurant's schedule or perhaps i was away from the office at the time and it felt like a weekend? intriguing. i'll have to call and ask.
A few specifics will help Hounds provide appropriate suggestions.
First, native NYers don't know where *every* place is located, so where is the Yale Club?
