This is the second posting in just the last 6 minutes about popular (at least with some folks) restaurants going under because of the economy. This is very, very sad, because the ones that are going to fail are not going to be the chains (that can weather the storm), but the unique/different family run businesses. Very sad. Let's hope for a better 2009

They had wonderful service, an awesome beer department, carried local produce, and even had a farm where they raised their own sheep. Fortunately there are other small, independent markets in Ann Arbor.

I occasionally bought fish from them, although the quality varied. The rest of the store was not too remarkable, and certainly not worth a journey over there. Prices were relatively high. There are other and often better sources for everything they sold. I don't buy much beer so I am not commenting on that.

They never tempted me to buy wine, and I buy plenty of that. They didn't seem to know how to sell it.

It's too bad they couldn't make it go, but to survive, a store like that needs a niche, and they didn't have one.

I like shopping at the Chineses market near by. Bello had some issues with fresh poultry and fish. Location killed them it was terrible getting in and out of that parking lot.

I was just thinking the same thing. I have spent a lot more money at that Chinese market than I ever spent at Bello Vino. Although their fish and meat are pretty scary in there too.
