Lidded Wall-Hanging Salt Box?

Not sure if this is the right board or not, but does anyone know where I can find a lidded wall-hanging salt box, preferably enamelware? I saw them all the time at housewares stores when I was in France, but stupidly didn't purchase, and now the only ones I've been able to find online are antiques and in the $100 range, which seems silly for a basic utensil.

  1. It's not a hanging thing but the Bee House lidded salt boxes are what I use.

I find them to be very convenient with a lid that pops up and drops into place simply, a handle for grabbing it to the pot and a wide, flat bottom that it sits securely on. I have them in two colors -- one for table grind salt and one for kosher grind. They sit on the flat top of my exhaust fan right above the cooking surface. It's an arrangement that's worked great for me.

I paid $20 each for them at Whole Foods and they had many more colors. Of course, that was a couple years ago but I think I saw them there in the cheese department recently.

That may not work for your intentions but I'm sure that if I had hung one, it would have come off and be broken by now. But that's just me of course. ;>

Hmm--that's perfect! If it would just hang on the wall...we have a very small kitchen and almost no counter space...but thanks for the reply!

    2. I know what you mean, and I wanted one for a long time until i found an old 'Salt Pig' to put next to my stove. There are some on Ebay right now that look like a great deal.Do a search for:

There is the link for one on Amazon....not sure if it's your style, but it seems like what you are looking for.

That's lovely and would sit on a counter as well as hang.

This is the one I have from Williams-Sonoma. It is ceramic, has a lid, and hangs on the wall. And it looks great.
