Hi Hounds, Best Pancakes Period?? Light & Fluffy with Fresh Berries??

Porto Dec 30, 2008 06:07 PM

The Title says it all. Anywhere in Toronto or slightly out. I live in North York but will travel to find the ultimate Pancake. I understand Mildred Pierce does a great Pancake. Can anyone confirm and offer any additional suggestions please.

Thank you,

Mildred Pierce is who I was going to recommend. Love them so much we bought her "Out to Brunch" cookbook for the recipe.

      Mildred Pierce is no more
it closed down I think last year

oops I tried to delete this cuz I read further down they reclocated under a new name
I wonder if they got flak for using the name "Mildred Pierce"?

Keep in mind that Mildred Pierce moved from its Sudbury St. location and has re-emerged as Mildred's Temple Kitchen in Liberty Village. I haven't been yet so I can't confirm whether the pancakes made it to the new menu. I personally love the blueberry pancakes at The Senator.

I've had the blueberry pancakes at Mildred's Temple Kitchen, and I fail to see what people are raving about. Our group of four (the pancakes were ordered "for the table") found them to be quite ordinary, improved by the accompanying whipped cream.

There's no such thing as fresh berries in Toronto right now. They're all travelling here from the southern hemisphere.

I absolutely love the mixed berry vegan pancakes at Fresh. I've found them to be moist, flavourful, and quite filling.

I really like the blueberry pancakes at The Homeway (Mt. Pleasant north of Eglinton). I think they put cinnamon in the batter.

I'm no pancake fan, but the ones they serve at Over Easy are pretty spectacular. Also, the buttermilk pancakes at Mitzi's are famous in this ole neighbourhood.
