2 Days in NYC... Please Help
Hi Fellow Hounders,
My husband is taking me to NYC for a quick weekend get-a-way in late January, and we are looking for some local recommendations.
New Orleans is our home and as such food is very important to us.
We would love ideas for:
1 splurge dinner (we are considering Daniel, but open to suggesions)
1 neighborhood joint type dinner option
On the Go breakfast options
Good, neighborhood lunch options
Rather than spending our time seeking out the statue of Liberty and Empire State Building, we will likely spend the majority of this brief stint getting to know SoHo and Greewnich Village.
Any suggestions are much appreciated!

For your splurge dinner, you certainly can't go wrong with Daniel. But I would suggest you consider Eleven Madison Park, where Chef Daniel Humm's is serving exquisite French-inspired cuisine. You can do the 3-course prix-fixe for $88pp or the Winter Tasting Menu for $125pp. (The 11-course Gourmand @$175pp is well beyond your budget.) As it happens, we just did the Winter Tasting, and it is sensational! EMP's wine list is extraordinary, service is both cordial and polished, and the space is gorgeous!

What kind of options are you looking for in your splurge dinner? How much are you willing to spend? Also note that a lot of the top tier restaurants book up very quickly (some a month in advance, the day they open their books) so I would definitely book very soon.
When you say Greenwich Village I assume you mean both the NYU area and West Village? For a lot of people GV is kind of ambiguous. I've seen some refer to that as the area between 3rd and 6th avenue, whereas West VIllage is anything west of 6th Avenue.
In any case, for your neighborhood restaurant dinner, I would check out Little Owl or Blue Ribbon Bakery. For your "on the go" breakfast options, I would pick up some pastries from Patisserie Claude. And for a nice neighborhood lunch, I like 'ino and maybe Lupa/Otto.
